TENT LONDON INSTALLATION
The idea of the installation is based on a new way of exhibiting objects.
The concept is clear and simple – mirrors are placed between the viewer and the object so that they block the direct view to the object but still reflect it, only in a completely new composition.
This installation can be a free standing object in space (as in the brief of Tent London) or be adapted for a certain art gallery.
If adapted to a gallery the installation could show a permanent exhibition of the gallery in a completely new way. Well known pieces of art would appear in a new composition. Taking it to the next level - pieces of art in different styles would blend together to form a new and unexpected experience.
The mirrors would reflect not the whole art work but just fragments of it and so you would perceive the object in a new and dynamic composition, and, whilst moving around, the composition would constantly change.
The original art works themselves would be protected from damage or theft as it would be impossible to reach them because of the mirrors.
For the Tent London exhibition the original art works could be replaced by different city views, so different cities like London, Paris, Barcelona, New York and so on, would be blend together and show the difference between the cities.
In short the installation would provide:
- A new way of displaying art
- An unfamiliar view of a familiar object
- Attention to details, not the whole look
- A new security system
- A way to break the light
